ISBN & Copyright Policy

1. Legal Framework

This policy is governed by the provisions of:

  • The Copyright Act, 1957 (India) and subsequent amendments
  • The Information Technology Act, 2000
  • Applicable rules of the Ministry of Education and ISBN Agency (India)
  • International ISBN and DOI standards

Digital Manuscriptpedia acts strictly as a publishing and dissemination platform and does not assume ownership of intellectual property unless explicitly agreed through a written contract.

2. ISBN POLICY

2.1 ISBN Allocation

Digital Manuscriptpedia assigns valid ISBNs to:

  • Author books
  • Edited books
  • Conference proceedings
  • Print and electronic editions

Each format (hardcover, paperback, eBook, revised edition) will be assigned a separate ISBN as per international standards.

ISBN is issued only after:

  • Submission of final manuscript
  • Completion of plagiarism screening
  • Execution of signed Publishing Agreement
  • Submission of required author declarations
2.2 ISBN Registration Status

The ISBN is registered under Digital Manuscriptpedia as the publisher of record.

The ISBN:

  • Cannot be reused by the author elsewhere
  • Cannot be transferred to another publisher
  • Remains permanently associated with the published edition

Revised editions or substantially modified versions will require a new ISBN.

3. COPYRIGHT POLICY

3.1 Copyright Ownership

Unless explicitly transferred through a signed agreement:

  • Copyright remains with the Author(s)/Editor(s).
  • Digital Manuscriptpedia receives a limited publishing and distribution license.

For conference proceedings:

  • Each author retains copyright of their individual paper.
  • Editors are responsible only for editorial coordination, not content liability.
3.2 Absolute Author Responsibility Clause

The Author(s)/Editor(s) shall bear full and sole responsibility for:

  • Originality of the work
  • Accuracy of content
  • Proper citation and referencing
  • Permission for third-party materials
  • Defamation, libel, or unlawful statements
  • Data privacy violations
  • Patent infringement
  • Trademark violations
  • Copyright infringement

Digital Manuscriptpedia shall NOT be held liable under any circumstances for:

  • Copyright infringement claims
  • Plagiarism allegations
  • Legal disputes arising from content
  • Financial damages resulting from intellectual property violations
  • Any civil or criminal liability arising from the published work

In case of any legal claim, notice, or litigation:

  • The Author(s)/Editor(s) agree to indemnify and hold harmless Digital Manuscriptpedia, its proprietors, employees, reviewers, and partners.
  • All legal expenses, penalties, settlements, and damages shall be borne exclusively by the Author(s)/Editor(s).

This indemnification survives termination of the publishing agreement.

4. DOI POLICY (If Applicable)

Where applicable, Digital Manuscriptpedia assigns Digital Object Identifiers (DOI) to:

  • Individual book chapters
  • Conference papers
  • Full books (if applicable)

DOIs:

  • Provide permanent digital identification
  • Do not imply copyright ownership
  • Cannot be reassigned or removed once registered

Metadata submitted for DOI registration is based entirely on author-provided information. The publisher is not responsible for inaccuracies in metadata supplied by authors.

5. ANTI-PLAGIARISM & ETHICAL COMPLIANCE

All submissions undergo plagiarism screening.

However:

  • Screening tools are software-based detection mechanisms.
  • Detection does not guarantee absence of infringement.
  • The ultimate responsibility for originality rests solely with the Author(s).

If post-publication infringement is discovered, Digital Manuscriptpedia reserves the right to:

  • Issue corrections
  • Publish expressions of concern
  • Retract the publication
  • Inform relevant institutions

6. ANTI-PIRACY STATEMENT

Unauthorized reproduction, distribution, or commercial use of published works is strictly prohibited.

Digital Manuscriptpedia may:

  • Issue takedown notices
  • Report piracy to hosting providers
  • Initiate technical blocking measures

However:

  • Legal enforcement action against piracy remains the responsibility of the copyright holder (Author/Editor), unless otherwise agreed in writing.

7. ROYALTY & REVENUE SHARING POLICY

(Modify as per your actual model.)

7.1 Author Books
  • Royalty percentage shall be specified in the Publishing Agreement.
  • Royalty is calculated on net revenue (after payment gateway, printing, platform fees, and applicable taxes).
  • Payment cycle: Annually / Bi-annually (as agreed).
  • Minimum payout threshold may apply.
7.2 Edited Books
  • Royalty, if applicable, is payable to the volume editor(s) as per agreement.
  • Chapter authors are not entitled to royalties unless contractually specified.
7.3 Conference Proceedings
  • Typically published under a publication fee model.
  • No royalty is payable unless explicitly agreed.

All applicable GST and statutory taxes shall be deducted as per Indian law.

8. WITHDRAWAL & RETRACTION POLICY

Once published:

  • ISBN and DOI records cannot be deleted.
  • Withdrawal requests do not erase public record.
  • Retraction may be issued in cases of proven misconduct.

Administrative and processing charges may apply for withdrawal prior to publication.

9. DATA PROTECTION

Author data is handled in accordance with:

  • Information Technology Act, 2000
  • Applicable Indian data protection provisions

Personal data is used strictly for publication, indexing, and communication purposes.

10. LEGAL JURISDICTION CLAUSE

All disputes arising from publication shall be subject to:

  • The laws of India
  • Exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in [Your City, State, India]

Arbitration, if applicable, shall be conducted under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996.

11. DISCLAIMER

Digital Manuscriptpedia functions strictly as:

  • A publishing facilitator
  • A metadata registration agency
  • A distribution platform

The intellectual, ethical, and legal responsibility of the content lies entirely with the Author(s)/Editor(s).
